Reaching Out for Help and to Help

Yesterday, was a challenging day. I made cold-calls for this cause. Unable to write about it last night, I went to God in prayer. I was received warmly by everyone, even those who politely explained why they were unable to make a contribution to GeoVi's Home due to the economy.

By the time I got to my bank, I was in a pensive and contemplative mood. I wasn't aware it registered on my face as much as it did. My banker said to me, "if you're out of it, there must be something really wrong with all of us." (Or something like that.) I'm typically upbeat, jubilant, smiling and floating . . . rain or shine! It was wet out but it was a welcome downpour because of the drought we're having.

My banker is also my friend. She was helpful, encouraging, full of ideas and information. I don't give up and made four calls after leaving her. I was ready to go again! I was reaching out for help for pregnant teens. They need us.

I made some progress but did not get a signed commitment or bring home a check. My name isn't Avis for nothing. I TRY HARDER!! So I was at it again today!

The Lord has His way of doing things. He gave me the comfort and assurance I needed just in case He felt I was discouraged.*grin* I received a phone call last evening around 9:30 from area code (305) which is Florida. I answered and the person asked, "Where in Florida can I go to volunteer?" I said, "pardon me?" She said, "I am on your site, GeoVi's Home and would like to know how I can help in Florida." Mind you, I am in South Carolina and that is where GeoVi's Home will be built, first. I am a native Floridian and plan to build a home in Florida.

This was the Lord at work. I know I am needed and so are you! I said my prayers and actually fell asleep while praying.

Upon awakening, I said my morning prayers and checked email. There was an email from a girl who had turned 17 just three days ago who found GeoVi's Home website and said she needed advice "real bad." Her mother was putting her out. I learned she is in Oregon and I'm doing what I can to help from this end. I have asked her to remain totally anonymous with me and not to reveal her exact location to anyone or identifying information about herself via the Internet, including me.

I will contact social service agencies where she lives to see if she can get help. IF we were in GeoVi's Home, we would send for her.

She and the caller from Florida were reaching out; one for help and the other, to help. I am reaching out for help, too.

I look to the hills to where my help comes from, it comes from the Lord who made the heavens and earth. I am asking Him to move your heart, stir up His loving compassion and generous spirit in you, to help.

I typed my To Do List last night before going to bed and one of the items was "get help!" I need more volunteers. At one of my stops today, I was asked if I had any help. Debbie said her youngest was now 18 and she was looking for something to devote her time and to give back and GeoVi's Home would be ideal. The only thing is she is having major surgery and won't take on anything now but will come on board afterwards.

See how our God is? She is reaching out to help. The Lord knows what we need. We must only believe. I have not received a "no" into my spirit from any of the stops I made yesterday and today. Merely delays and not denials is how I look at it.

How can you not give anything to someone who needs love, guidance, support and a lifeline? Five dollars ($5) will buy shampoo and bath soap. Coins makes dollars.

We need your help.
